Rob Willson briefly played in the minors and is a longtime college coach.

Willson was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 43rd round of the 1987 amateur draft out of college and hit .255 in 48 games with the Everett Giants that year. After his playing days, he was an assistant coach for Loyola Marymount University in 1991. From 1992 to 1996, he was head coach at City College of San Francisco, and he spent the next four years as head coach at Laney College. in 2001 and 2002, he was associate head coach at Diablo Valley College. He was head coach at Sierra College from 2003-2012 and 2014-2020, winning a state title in 2008.
