Biographical Information[edit]
Rivar Angulo has pitched in the minors and for the Colombian national team.
Angulo signed with the Philadelphia Phillies, with scout Arnold Elles. He made his pro debut with the 2011 DSL Phillies, going 0-1 with 7 hits, 11 runs (10 earned) and 10 strikeouts in 11 1/3 IP; the big problem was his walk total (19). He still made it to the US in 2012, going 0-1 with a 1.66 ERA in 12 outings. He gave up just 12 hits and fanned 23 in 21 2/3 innings but walked 15.
In the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, the lefty made one appearance for Colombia, a very brief one. With Colombia trailing Brazil, 2-1, in the bottom of the 6th, he relieved Cristian Mendoza and walked Daniel Matsumoto on seven pitches. He was then replaced on the hill by Dayan Diaz, who let the inherited runner score to give Angulo an infinite ERA.
