Biographical Information[edit]
Robert Joseph Collins, known as Bob or Rip, played 50 games in the majors over parts of two seasons, 1940 and 1944. With the Chicago Cubs in the former year, he was the backup catcher behind 38-year-old Al Todd. Hall of Famer Gabby Hartnett appeared in 22 games. Collins was also in the PCL with Seattle and Los Angeles. He is not to be confused with Rip Collins the pitcher, or Ripper Collins.
