Biographical Information[edit]

Rin Ono has played in Nippon Pro Baseball and the Japanese national team.

Ono was a talented pitcher in high school. In the 1991 Summer Koshien, he complete all 6 games for the Okinawa Suisan High School with 773 pitches, but the Osaka Toin High School beat them in the final. Ono's hand was severely hurt in the tournament, and he became a batter in college. He broke the Fukuoka Big 6 Baseball League record with 18 homers, and also represented Japan in the 1993 Asian Championship. The Yomiuri Giants drafted him in the fifth round of the 1995 NPB draft. Ono didn't play well or often in pro baseball, only having 22 at-bats combined with the big club in his 5-year Giants career. The Giants traded him with Makoto Sato to the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks for Koichiro Yoshinaga after the 2000 season. Ono went 1-for-9 in 2001, and spent the whole 2002 season in the NPB Farm Leagues. He announced his retirement after the 2002 season.

Overall, Ono had hit .161/.212/.258 in 4 seasons in NPB.
