Biographical information[edit]

Relief pitcher Richie Mirowski played in the Washington Nationals minor league system from 2011 to 2014 and in independent ball in 2015 and 2016. He was taken by the club in the 45th round of the 2011 amateur draft.

In his first professional season, he posted a 2.59 ERA in 14 appearances for the Auburn Doubledays in 2011. With Auburn and the Hagerstown Suns in 2012, Mirowski went 5-0 with a 1.85 ERA in 20 games, striking out 36 batters in 34 innings. He was 10-3 with 7 saves and 88 strikeouts in 68 2/3 innings between the Potomac Nationals and Harrisburg Senators in 2013. He began 2014 with Harrisburg, but was demoted to Potomac partway through the season, going 1-1 with a 3.72 ERA in 22 combined games. He was 17-6 with a 2.37 ERA in 101 games in the Nationals chain, striking out 183 batters in 163 1/3 innings. He then spent two years in indy ball, going 5-7 with a 3.77 ERA in 34 games (13 starts).

All told, including his Arizona Fall League statistics, Mirowski was 22-13 with a 2.85 ERA in 144 games (13 starts), striking out 312 batters in 268 1/3 frames.

He died in 2017 at the age of 28.
