Biographical Information

The brother of Joel Zumaya, pitcher Richard Zumaya was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 43rd round of the 2007 amateur draft and made his pro debut that year with the GCL Tigers, posting a 4.08 ERA in eight appearances with the club. Opponents hit just .169 against him and struck out 16 in 17 2/3 IP. He was signed by scout Tim McWilliam.
