Riccardo Bertagnon has played for the Italian national team. A catcher, Bertagnon debuted in Serie A1 in 2005 for Ceci & Negri Parma, hitting .246/.262/.382. In 2006, he batted .230/.299/.310 as the backup to Luis Alen on Parma and also played for Italy in the 2006 World University Championship. He did not improve much in 2007, hitting .222/.338/.316 for Parma. He was still chosen for the Italian squad for the 2007 Baseball World Cup, backing up Luis Ricardo Serafin de Camargo at catcher. Bertagnon went 0 for 4 with a walk and two runs in five games and made one error, appearing primarily as a defensive sub for Camargo.
Bertagnon hit .257/.364/.368 at age 24 in 2008, 4th on Parma in OBP.
