Biographical Information[edit]
Ricardo Martinez was a shortstop who played in the Cuban League from its inaugural season in 1878 to 1891. He was elected to the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame in 1950. He batted .439 in the 1886-87 season with the Almendares team. According to Wikipedia, he apparently played for the Matanzas, Colon, Fe, and Habana teams during his career.
