Biographical Information[edit]
Ric Lessmann pitched in the minors then was a college coach.
Lessmann pitched in the New York Yankees chain for the 1955 Owensboro Oilers (2 G) and Hannibal Citizens (2-9, 6.29); while his record was unimpressive, he did fling a 7-inning no-hitter August 8th against the Lafayette Chiefs. It was the only no-no in the Mississippi-Ohio Valley League that season.
He then went back to college. From 1967-1993, he was coach of Meramec Community College, with no losing seasons and the 1974 junior college national title. He guided Washington University in Saint Louis from 1994-2010, becoming the 18th coach in college baseball history to reach 1,000 wins. He went 1,365-556-1 in his career, 396-231-1 at WUSTL. He became pitching coach of the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2011.
