For a single season (1976) the Pawtucket Red Sox instead were called the Rhode Island Red Sox. The Pawtucket, RI team went 68-70 under Joe Morgan, fifth in the 8-team International League. The lone All-Star on the team was 3B Butch Hobson (.286/~.346/.558), who led the league in slugging and finished third in homers (25). The team also had the league home run king, 1B Jack Baker (.254/~.347/.518), who hit 36 long balls and tied for third in the IL with 80 RBI. Don Aase (5-2, 3.33) was one of the top pitchers in limited time, while C Bo Diaz (.248/~.333/.359) had one of the top major-league careers from the team's position players.
