Pitcher Rex Brothers was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the supplemental first round of the 2009 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Scott Corman for a $969,000 bonus and made his pro debut that summer. He made his big league debut with the Rox in 2011, with his best season coming with the 2013 team, when he put together a 2-1, 1.74 record and 19 saves in 72 appearances. The following season, he became the first Rockie pitcher in history to record an immaculate inning when he set down Michael Morse, Brandon Crawford and Gregor Blanco of the San Francisco Giants in order at AT&T Park.
