Biographical Information[edit]

René Cremer is an infielder who was on the Kinheim clubs that won the 2006 and 2007 Holland Series.

Cremer hit .444 in the 2000 World Junior Championship and won the Ron Fraser Award; he was 6th in the event in average, .006 behind Donal Duarte and .006 ahead of J.J. Hardy and Alexander Polyakov. He debuted in Hoofdklasse the next year and was tied for 8th with 10 steals for Almere. In 2003, René moved to Kinheim and finished 7th in average (.330) and led in hits (59).

In 2004, René batted .325, 8th in Hoofdklasse. He scored 35 runs, second to Michael Duursma, was 3rd in hits (51) and tied for 6th in steals (10 in 13 tries).

Cremer slumped in 2005, only hitting .236/~.276/.257 with 7 steals in 9 tries. He fielded .890 at shortstop. In 2006, Cremer bounced back with a batting line of .310/~.402/.345, fielding .898 at short. He was 5th in the league with 35 runs, tied Danny Rombley for 7th in hits (52) and tied Rombley for 8th with 27 RBI. He went 8 for 20 with two walks, a triple, steal, 3 runs and 5 RBI in the 2006 Holland Series as Kinheim won in five games.

Cremer was with the Dutch national team for a historic 3-game visit to the US for a one-on-one competition against the US college national team (the US won, 2 games to 1) but was removed from the roster before he appeared in a major tournament as Ivanon Coffie returned to the Netherlands after several months in Taiwan.

Cremer hit .335/.417/.374 in the 2007 Hoofdklasse season and scored 33 runs in 40 games. He fielded .980 at second base. He was 10th in the league in average, 7th in runs and fifth with 52 hits. He hit .476 in the playoffs before going 2 for 14 in the 2007 Holland Series. In the 2007 European Cup, Cremer batted .273/.304/.273 to help Kinheim win its first European Cup ever.

Cremer hit .316/.391/.474 with 6 runs in 5 games as Kinheim won the 2008 European Cup in Grosseto. He scored the tying run in the Gold Medal game, singling in the 10th off of Linc Mikkelsen with a 2-1 deficit and coming home on a Tjerk Smeets double.

In the 2008 Hoofdklasse season, Cremer hit .281/.358/.341 with 34 runs in 41 games. He tied Mike Duursma for 6th in the league in runs. He was only 3 for 37 in the postseason. In the 2008 European Cup's Matino phase, he went 1 for 11 with two walks, a run and a RBI. He was 2 for 7 with a run in the Cup's Final Four.
