On September 8, 1985, Reggie Patterson surrendered two singles to Pete Rose, tying him with Ty Cobb at 4,191 hits.

Patterson pitched one complete game in his major league career. It came on October 6, 1985 as a member of the Chicago Cubs against the St. Louis Cardinals. He gave up 9 hits, 2 earned runs, walked 1 and struck out 3. He also had his only career base hit in that game, a single against Kurt Kepshire. And it was the last game of his professional career.
