Biographical Information

Reggie Barringer played four seasons in the minors.

The Pittsburgh Pirates took him in the 29th round of the 1984 amateur draft. He was 7 for 20 with a double, triple, 5 walks and 6 runs in six games for the GCL Pirates that year and hit .258/.358/.335 for the Watertown Pirates, fielding .896 at SS. His five triples tied him for second in the New York-Penn League. With the 1985 Prince William Pirates, his batting line was .220/.353/.261 and he was 14-for-32 in steals but he drew 73 walks while improving his fielding at short to .935. He was 9th in the Carolina League in walks and 5th in the Pirates chain (between Bobby Miscik and Benny Distefano).

In 1986, he repeated with Prince William and hit better (.280/.372/.329) in a utility infielder role. He moved up to the Salem Buccaneers for 1987 and hit .313/.406/.325 in 75 games there, mostly backing up Scott Little at third base. He finished his pro career with a batting line of .255/.369/.305 in 299 games, with 140 walks, 42 steals in 80 tries, 10 triples, two home runs, 121 runs and 88 RBI. He fielded .918 in 184 games at SS, .878 in 58 at 3B and .941 in 44 at 2B.
