Reemberto Rosell Aponte

Outfielder Reemberto Rosell played for over 20 years in Cuba. A good contact hitter with little power, he never played for the Cuban national team in a major event. He is the brother of Anselmo Rosell.

Rosell collected 66 hits for Cienfuegos in 1986-1987 to tie Luis A. Álvarez for the Serie Nacional lead. His 7 triples led the league in 1988-1989. Rosell connected safely 64 times in 1990-1991 to tie Alexis Cabrejas for the western division lead.

Reemberto paced the 1992 Series Selectivas with 96 hits and 7 triples for Las Villas. He had 100 hits in 1992-1993 to lead the Serie Nacional. The Cienfuegos contact man tied Jorge Salfrán for the most hits (106) in 1995-1996. In 1997-1998, he led in hits one last time, with 132.

Rosell starred for the Cuban B-team in the 1999 World Port Tournament, hitting .405/.450/.486 with 7 runs in 9 games as Cuba won the event. He was second in the tourney in average, 9th in slugging, 5th in OBP, led in hits (15) and tied for second in runs (behind Joan Carlos Pedroso).

Overall, Rosell hit .323/.364/.387 in 21 seasons in Cuba with 801 runs, 1,918 hits, 75 triples and only 14 home runs. He fielded .944 and stole 110 bases but was caught stealing 127 times. As of 2010, he was third in Cuban history (post-1960) in triples (behind Enrique Esteban Díaz and Evenecer Godínez) and times caught stealing (12th).
