Biographical Information[edit]

Ray Young was a minor league pitcher and college coach.

Young was 24-13 at Stanford. He signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates and went 6-1 with a 3.56 ERA in 15 games pitched for the 1956 Billings Mustangs, going 9 for 56 at the plate. He returned to Stanford as freshman coach then was head coach from 1968-1976, going 326-161-3. He coached ten future major leaguers in that role, most notably Bob Boone.
