Raymond Werner

Ray Werner played in the Belgian First Division. He hit .271/.409/.557 for the 1990 Brasschaat Braves. He was 10th in the league with five dingers. In 1991, he had his best campaign: .435/.481/.605, 37 RBI in 114 AB. He was second in the league in hits (49, 5 behind Peter van Walraven), tied Albert De Lannoy for 3rd in RBI and was 9th in average.

Werner fell to .339/.419/.484 in 1992, helping the Braves to their first title. He hit .282/.331/.436 in '93 as the Braves repeated. In 1994, he batted .391/ /.621 and the team won again. His 11 doubles were 3rd in the circuit after Paul Spoelders and Frank Van Droogenbroeck. He was 0 for 3 in 1995 and hit .326/.333/.478 as a part-timer in '96, the Braves winning titles both years. He did not play from 1997-1999, then was 1 for 5 in 2000 and 1 for 2 in 2001, when they won another pennant. [1]

He later coached for the Vlaamse Baseball Academy. [2] He coached for Belgium in the 2017 U-23 European Championship and 2018 Super6. [3]
