Biographical Information[edit]
Ray "Lefty" Boggs was the first player to come to the majors out of the University of Denver. He was up for four games with the 1928 Boston Braves, pitching 5 innings to a 5.40 ERA. Until 2008, he was one of only three major league players with the last name Boggs. However, that year the group was joined by Brandon and Mitchell Boggs (no relation). The others are Tommy and Hall of Famer Wade Boggs. Ray was the first big league Boggs.
