Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Raph Rhymes played in the Detroit Tigers system from 2013 to 2015.

He was drafted three times. He was named Division II National Junior College Player of the Year after hitting .483 with 12 home runs and 98 RBI as a freshman at LSU-Eunice. He was taken by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2011, then by the New York Yankees in 2012 and finally by the Tigers in the 15th round of the 2013 amateur draft. The scout was Bryson Barber. He was named first-team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association and Collegiate Baseball in 2012, when he hit .431 to lead NCAA Division I.

After hitting .296/.412/.379 in 58 games his first year, Rhymes slipped to .256/.329/.381, albeit with 35 doubles in 2014 before hitting .220/.308/.313 in 2015. He batted .249/.336/.355 with 17 home runs and 122 RBI in 313 games.
