Biographical Information[edit]

Randy Williams was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 12th round of the 1997 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Buzzy Keller, but was injured and made his pro debut with the AZL Cubs in 1998. He pitched just 3 innings in 1998 and 53 innings in 1999 with the Daytona Cubs before missing the 2000 season with more injuries. He was released by the Cubs in March 2001 and was out of baseball for the season. Williams finally got his career started in earnest with the independent Edinburg Roadrunners in 2002. He was signed by the Seattle Mariners in September 2002 and was sent to AA San Antonio Missions in 2003.
