Biographical Information[edit]
Randy Pérez has pitched in the minors and for the Dominican national team.
He was signed by Boston Red Sox scouts Manny Nanita and Craig Shipley in July 2011. [1] His signing bonus was $80,000, [2] He was 5-3 with a save and a 3.97 ERA for the 2012 DSL Red Sox. In 2013, he did very well with the GCL Red Sox (3-2, 2.39 ERA, 1.02 WHIP). He was 8th in the Gulf Coast League in ERA, 2nd in opponent average (.184) and 5th in WHIP (between Joey Maher and Jose Alonso). [3] He started 2014 well for the Lowell Spinners (2-2, 2.78) but his season was cut short due to injury. [4] He was 0-2 with a save and a 1.62 ERA for the 2015 Spinners. He ended his US pro career 10-9 with a 1.26 WHIP, 2.98 ERA and 2 saves in 39 games (24 starts). He threw a fastball that peaked at 92 mph but had issues with his secondary pitches. [5]
The lefty made the Dominican squad for the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games. He had a solid 2.35 ERA in three games but lost his only start, being outdueled by Colombian veteran Ronald Ramírez. [6]
