Biographical Information

Randy Heflin pitched for the Boston Red Sox in 1945 and 1946. He had a two-year record of 4-11 with a 3.86 ERA in 25 games.

He was the same age as teammate Ted Williams.

His minor league career ran from 1938 to 1952 with a gap in 1943 and 1944, when he served in the United States Navy during World War II. He produced an 85-72 record in 207 games in the minor leagues. He also managed in the minors from 1950 to 1952.

Heflin was the first player to make his major league debut for a team who had won the World Series on the exact day when he was born. Steve Kline and Jonathon Niese are the only others with this distinction. Heflin was born in September, but due to World War I, the baseball season ended early in 1918.
