Biographical Information

Pitcher Randy Burden played for the Provo Angels in 2002, posting a 7.45 ERA in 10 appearances. Tragically, that was his only pro season as he died in his sleep that December at age 23.

Burden was featured prominently in the book Odd Man Out: A Year on the Mound with a Minor League Misfit (ISBN 9780670020706), written by Matt McCarthy and published in 2009. McCarthy, a pitcher for Provo in 2002, was Burden's roommate for much of the season.
