Biographical Information[edit]

Ralph Gagliano, who played one major league game as a pinch-runner for the Cleveland Indians at age 18 in 1965, is the brother of Phil Gagliano and Paul Gagliano.

Ralph's professional career was interrupted by three years of service in the Vietnam War. He returned to the States to play a couple more years of minor league ball, but he had missed baseball at ages 20, 21 and 22 while serving his country.

Ralph came from a family that was heavily into baseball. His father played semipro ball in Memphis, TN, his uncle Tony Gagliano played minor league ball and coached high school and American Legion ball, and his brothers both played high school baseball. Phil became a major leaguer, while Paul earned a baseball scholarship to Vanderbilt University. Phil's class in high school also included Tim McCarver.
