Rafael Rivera pitched in the minor leagues and the CPBL.

Rivera pitched one game for the Puerto Rican national team in the 1995 Intercontinental Cup, throwing a five-hit, ten-whiff shutout to beat Edmundo Gracia and Mexico. He was one of three qualifiers with a 0.00 ERA, alongside Danny Wout and Shih-Chin Tsai. He was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 60rd round of the 1995 Amateur Draft, and he went 4-1 with a 2.19 ERA for the Everett AquaSox in his first year with 61 K to 10 BB in 49 1/3 IP. He had a 3.51 ERA in 24 relief outings for the Lancaster JetHawks in 1997, and he pitched 6 games with a 2.57 ERA for the Memphis Chicks. The Wei Chuan Dragons then signed him in 1999, but Rivera allowed 5 runs in 4 1/3 innings for them, and his professional career ended.
