Outfielder Rafael Orta has played for La Habana. He had hit .279 and slugged .390 through 2007-2008, his 9th season. Orta hit 10 doubles in the 2005 Super Liga to tie Alexei Ramirez for the league lead. In 2008-2009, he batted .336/.428/.436 and was third in the Serie Nacional with eight triples. In the finals, Orta put on a show. In game one, he singled in Ruby Silva with the 9th-inning winning hit off Yolexis Ulacia. The nezt game, he went 3 for 3 and his 8th-inning homer off Ulacia was the final blow as La Habana again won by a single run. He lost postseason MVP honors to Miguel Alfredo González. Orta surprisingly won a Gold Glove in the outfield even though he was primarily used as a DH in 2008-2009.
