Rafael Estrada has caught for the Nicaraguan national team.
Estrada debuted for Jinotega in 2010, going 0 for 2. He was a starter by 2011, hitting .285/.387/.380. The next season, he produced at a .274/.472/.339 clip for them, followed by .325/.433/.485 in 2013; he finished that year with Frente Sur, hitting .333/.424/.413 in 27 games for them. In '14, he was back with Jinotega, hitting .302/.373/.419 for them; he again spent part of the year with another team, this time hitting .280/.372/.347 in 24 games for Dantos.
Opening 2015 with Jinotega, he batted .315/.419/.425. With Dantos in '16, his batting line read .306/.435/.405. He was on the Nicaraguan team for the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers but did not appear in them. In the 2017 Central American Games, he backed up Janior Montes as Nicaragua would win the Gold; he played two games and did very well in limited time. He was 2 for 2 with a hit-by-pitch, 3 runs and one RBI in a 16-0 rout of Honduras and drew a walk after replacing Montes late in a win over Costa Rica for a 1.000 OBP.
