Biographical Information

Raúl Chávez was signed by Andres Reiner and Ruben Cabrera for the Houston Astros as a non-drafted free agent in 1990. He saw action in eleven big league seasons, only playing more than 50 games twice, with much of his action coming following a return to Houston after debuting with the Montreal Expos. In 263 games, he hit .231 with 7 home runs. Chávez is married with two children, living with his wife, Charlotte, his son, Raúl Daniel (born Nov. 11, 1992), and daughter Daniela Steffanny (born Oct. 1, 1998) in Valencia, Venezuela.
