Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder RJ Schreck was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 9th round of the 2023 amateur draft, out of Vanderbilt University. He had begun his college career at Duke University, playing there four seasons, including the 2020 season that was shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic, and transferred to Vanderbilt for his final season of eligibility and to start work on a post-graduate degree, having earned his undergraduate degree at Duke. He hit .306 with 14 homers and 59 RBIs in 62 games with the Commodores.
He only stayed a little over one year with the Mariners. In 2023, he hit .258 in 27 games between the ACL Mariners and the Modesto Nuts. In 2024, he started off with the Everett AquaSox of the Northwest League, where he hit .261 in 78 games. He had just been promoted to the AA Arkansas Travelers when on July 29th, he was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in return for veteran Justin Turner.
