Biographical Information[edit]

Probably not the brother of Patsy Tebeau and George Tebeau, Charles "Pussy" Tebeau played two games for the Cleveland Spiders in 1895, hitting .500 (3-for-6). Patsy Tebeau was player-manager for the team at the time, and the team finished 84-46 on the year. Tebeau had three put-outs in the field as well as one assist. He made no errors.

Tebeau played well enough to stick with the team, but the problem was that he had previously signed with another team, and so a complaint was lodged and the Spiders were forced to release him. He was beaned in early 1896 and that ended his career.

He had played amateur and minor league ball since 1890.

Newspapers sometimes listed his name as C.A. Tebeau, and the initials "CAT" may have inspired people to call him "Pussy".

Although he played on the same team as Patsy, there doesn't seem to be evidence that Patsy and Pussy were brothers. Patsy was born and died in St. Louis, MO while Pussy was born and died in Massachusetts.

He was named manager of a club in a new league in 1897 but the league never got off the ground.

After baseball he worked as a machinist and toolmaker, and was employed many years at General Electric. He also held several political positions in his town of Pittsfield, MA. He lived to the age of 80, and his oldest daughter lived past the age of 100.
