Biographical Information[edit]

Pryor McElveen (often referred to as Humpty McElveen) played three years for the Brooklyn Superbas and Brooklyn Dodgers between 1909 and 1911.

A site about Kid Elberfeld [[1]] states that Elberfeld replaced McElveen at Montgomery in 1912 when McElveen was traded to Atlanta. That same year, Elberfeld and several other players, according to the article, were arrested for an assault on McElveen in Atlanta.

He was the first major leaguer with the last name McElveen, and the first to have the first name Pryor. There is also a player with a similar last name - Irish McIlveen, who was a contemporary.
