Protoball.org

Protoball.org is a website maintained by baseball researchers including John Thorn, Bruce Allardice, and Richard Hershberger. It was launched in 2012 by Larry McCray, and was a continuation of the Protoball Project that began in the early 2000s. The website documents the early origins of the game of baseball as well as ancient games that may have been an inspiration for the game of baseball we know today. The website documents thousands of amateur clubs from before 1871 as well as the players on the teams.
