Biographical Information[edit]

Bruce Allardice is a baseball historian and member of SABR. He, along with John Thorn and others maintain a site called Protoball.org, which documents the early history of the game of baseball, as well as early games that may have been an inspiration for the current game. He has written a number of articles for SABR as well as a number of books about the Civil War. He also works as a history professor at South Suburban College in Illinois. While doing research in 2004, Allardice is credited for possibly discovering the fact that William Edward White may have been the first African-American player in major league history.
