Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Porter Hodge was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 13th round of the 2019 amateur draft out of a high school just outside of his birth city of Salt Lake City, UT. He gave up a commitment to attend the University of Utah in order to sign.
He made his major league debut with the Cubs on May 22, 2024. Pitching the last inning of a 9-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves at Wrigley Field, he struck out all three batters he faced, needing just ten pitches. On September 4th, he took the mound against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Wrigley Field with a 12-0 lead but facing an unusual amount of pressure, as Shota Imanaga had started the game with seven hitless innings and Nate Pearson had retired the Bucs in order in the 8th. Hodge did not wilt down, as he also got three outs in order to complete the combined no-hitter.
