Biographical Information[edit]

Po-Kai Lai pitched in the CPBL for 2 years.

Lai was drafted by the Uni-President Lions in the 5th round of the 2013 CPBL Draft, and he was 6-4 with a 4.82 ERA in the CPBL minor league in 2014. He went 1-0 with a 5.91 ERA in 2015, and he stayed in the minors in 2016. He was 5-6 with a 6.22 ERA there, and he led the league in homers, hits and innings. Lai had a 5.54 ERA in 10 games in 2017, and he recorded a 6.00 ERA in 19 relief outings in 2018. He only pitched 8 games in 2019, then he announced his retirement after the 2020 season. Lai became the bullpen coach of the Lions after retiring.

Lai's repertoire included a fastball (peak 91.9 mph), changeup and slider.

Overall, Lai was 1-2 with a 6.79 ERA, pitched 58 1/3 innings and struck out 28 in 6 seasons in the CPBL.
