Pikeville Brewers

From BR Bullpen

The first minor league team in Pikeville history, the Pikeville Brewers were the worst team in the Appalachian League that year, finishing 21 games behind the Bluefield Orioles and being outscored 354-310. They did not finish last, though, in runs allowed (5th place) or runs scored (6th) or even run differential (5th). Tim Nordbrook guided the club, which had no All-Stars. They drew 13,441 fans, 5th in the league. SS Dale Sveum (.862 fielding percentage, .233/~.302/.327) had the best career of any of their position players. Chuck Crim (4-6, 2.56) led the league in complete games (8 in 11 starts) and finished 9th in ERA. Chris Bosio (3-2, 1 Sv, 4.91) had one of the more notable careers by a member of the pitching staff.

The next year, the Pikeville Cubs replaced them in town.
