Biographical Information

Souksumlary Phonthammard was 2 for 7 with 4 runs and a RBI for the Laotian national team in the 2023 East Asian Baseball Cup. In the 2022 Asian Games (held in 2023 after delays from COVID-19 policies), he was a regular middle infielder for Laos. In their opener, he hit 9th and played short versus Thailand, striking out against Siraphop Nadee his first time up. He finished the Games 1-for-15 with two walks and a run, fielding .875. His hit came off Raymond Nerosa in the 5th inning to break up a no-hit bid by the Philippines. He tied Tsung-Che Cheng and Naruephol Muangkasem for 3rd in the Games in assists (13) though also tied for 3rd in errors (3, behind teammates Hue Thor and Bee Sengsoulin).
