Biographical Information

Philippe-Alexandre Valiquette is a minor league pitcher.

Valiquette was picked by the Cincinnati Reds in the 7th round of the 2004 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Jason Baker and debuted as a pro with the Billings Mustangs (2-1, 6.43 in 7 G) and Dayton Dragons (2-5, 6.30 in 19 G) in 2005. In 2006, he struggled with Dayton, going 2-4 with a 7.54 ERA; in 37 innings, he allowed 52 hits and walked 21. In 2007, the southpaw split time between Billings (3-1, 3 Sv, 1.77 in 11 G) and Dayton (1-2, 6.75 in 7 G).

In 2008, Philippe-Alexandre spent time with Dayton (0-1, Sv, 3.12, 32 K in 26 IP) and the Sarasota Reds (2-1, 3.92 in 31 G). He pitched for the Waikiki BeachBoys, going 0-1 with a 8.53 ERA; in 12 2/3 innings, he gave up 23 hits and 10 walks. He was on Canada's preliminary roster for the 2009 World Baseball Classic, but did not make the final cut. He was named to the Canadian team for the 2009 Baseball World Cup but was cut due to a sore elbow.

Valiquette made the World team in the 2010 Futures Game, joining fellow Canadians Trystan Magnuson and Brett Lawrie. He relieved Magnuson in the 7th inning with a 6-1 World deficit. Philippe retired Ben Revere on a fly, then walked Logan Morrison. He got Danny Espinosa on an inning-ending grounder, then was relieved by Eduardo Sánchez to open the 8th.
