Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Phil Dauphin was once a Chicago Cubs top prospect, but he only played briefly at Triple A and never reached the majors.

Drafted by the Cubs in the 8th round of the 1990 amateur draft, Dauphin showed good pop and speed throughout his career, reaching double digits in homers and stolen bases in the same season three times. In 1991, he was Most Valuable Player of the Peoria Chiefs, batting .296 with 11 home runs and 15 stolen bases in 120 games. Going into 1992, he was ranked the Cubs' #10 prospect by Baseball America. By 1993, he was out of the Cubs system when the Cincinnati Reds claimed him off waivers on August 27th; he also reached Triple A for the only time in his career that year, batting .240 in 75 at-bats at that level.

His professional career ended after 1996. Overall, Dauphin batted .258/.349/.405 with 68 home runs, 295 RBI and 84 steals in 730 games.
