Biographical Information[edit]

Phil Bauer spent a year in the minors.

Bauer struggled his first two seasons at Xavier University, hitting .176/.307/.216 in 2008 and going 2 for 33 with 7 walks in 2009 with more errors (3) than hits. In 2010, he hit .329/.402/.430 while fielding .971 as a regular shortstop and stealing 10 bases in 12 tries. He had a nearly identical campaign in 2011 - .329/.391/.440 with 40 runs in 52 games, though his baserunning (10 SB, 6 CS) and fielding (.942) were worse. His hometown Cincinnati Reds signed him as an undrafted free agent. He split the summer between the AZL Reds (.185/.343/.259 in 20 G) and Bakersfield Blaze (3 for 9, BB), playing primarily in the outfield. For 2012, he signed with the French powerhouse Rouen Huskies.
