Peter J. McGovern

From BR Bullpen

Peter J. McGovern served as President of Little League Baseball starting in 1953, when he succeeded Charles Durban, who was ailing. He was the organization's first full-time president, a reflection of its tremendous growth following World War II. The 1955 rift with Little League founder and commissioner Carl Stotz occurred shortly thereafter, in 1955. Stotz left the organization due to differences on the issue of commercialization.

The Little League's museum in Williamsport, PA is named the "Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum" in his honor.
