Biographical Information

Peter Hoy was the worst pitcher for the Canadian national team in the 1988 Baseball World Cup. In 6 2/3 IP, he allowed 11 hits, 6 walks, a wild pitch and 11 runs (all earned). He was a member of the Canadian team at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, where baseball was a demonstration sport, but did not get a chance to pitch in any of Canada's games. He had been drafted before the Olympics in the 1988 amateur draft, but held off signing with the Boston Red Sox until after the competition, in order to maintain his amateur status.

Hoy was an assistant coach at his alma mater, LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY, from 1998 to 2010. In 2011 he became head coach at St. Lawrence University. He stepped down in September 2020 due to health reasons.

His father, Jack Hoy, was a pitcher in the New York Yankees organization for two seasons in the 1950s.
