Biographical Information[edit]
Kentucky native Pete Center spent thirteen active seasons in professional baseball from 1934 to 1948. Pete appeared in the bigs in 1942, 1943, 1945 and 1946 with the Cleveland Indians. In 77 games, he was 7-7 with a 4.50 ERA in 160 1/3 innings. Center also appeared in ten seasons in the minors between 1934 to 1948, with a 57-75 record in 190 appearances. His best year was 1941, when he went 14-8 with a 3.34 ERA for the Wilkes-Barre Barons of the Eastern League.
Center served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a merchant after his time in baseball. Pete died on August 8, 2004 in Campton, KY at 92.
