Pedro Diaz is playing his 16th minor league season in 2010.

Diaz debuted at age 17 with the 1996 Mexico City Tigers, walking in his lone trip to the plate. In 1997, he was 5 for 30 with a double for Mexico City. The next year, he joined the Rieleros de Aguascalientes and hit .214/.288/.306 in 45 games. In '99, Pedro batted .267/.318/.350 for the Rieleros. He batted .289/.338/.421 in 80 contests for the 2000 Pueblo Parrots.

Pedro hit .294/.327/.428 for Pueblo in 2001. In '02, he played for Pueblo (5 for 17) and the Veracruz Eagle (7 for 43, 3 BB, 2 2B). With Puebla full-time in 2004, the 25-year-old veteran hit .333/.396/.415 in 54 games.

In '05, the Chihuahua native finished his 10th season with a batting line of .311/.352/.397 for the Monclova Steelers. His 235 assists ranked second among Mexican League third baseman. During 2006, Diaz hit .273/.333/.432 with 13 homers (a new career high) for Monclova, followed by .335/.389/.506 in 2007. He had a similar campaign in 2008 with a batting line of .335/.417/.482, though by this point the former shortstop was primarily a DH.

In 2009, Diaz hit .287/.331/.420 in 42 games for Monclova, alternating between third, first and DH.
