Biographical Information

Paul Erickson, born in Illinois, pitched almost his entire major league career for the Chicago Cubs. He is best known for being part of the 1945 Cubs team that won the pennant (he won the deciding game of the pennant race), and he appeared in four games in the 1945 World Series. His first major league victory was a one-hitter against the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1941; Bob Elliott got the only hit.

Erickson started slightly fewer than half his major league appearances.

In 1942 he spent some time pitching with the Nashville Volunteers and in 1943, he spent some time with the minor league Milwaukee Brewers, going 6-4 with a 3.19 ERA. He also made appearances with the Cubs both of those seasons. He managed the Appleton Papermakers for part of 1951.

One source says he was a milkman during the off-seasons of his major league career.
