Paul Clemons

Biographical Information[edit]

Paul Clemons is a major league umpire who worked his first game on August 19, 2020. He was one of 19 umpires to make his debut that season, in large part because a number of veteran umpires decided to sit out the season due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic. All of the games he worked that season were in the two Central divisions.

He reached the AAA Pacific Coast League in 2016, having previously worked in the Eastern League, the California League, the Midwest League and the Arizona Fall League. He worked the 2019 PCL Championship series. He graduated from the Jim Evans umpire school in 2011. He comes from an umpiring family as his father Duane is a collegiate umpire while brother Charlie officiated in the minor leagues and then worked NCAA games alongside his father. His hometown is Oxford, KS and during the off-season he works as a substitute teacher in the area.

He is not to be confused with major league pitcher Paul Clemens.
