Patrick Renard was a player in Belgium's First Division, ending his career with a .400 season for the 1989 Mortsel Stars (9th in the aluminum bat-using league). He was the youngest player on the first Belgian squad to play in an Amateur World Series. In the 1978 Amateur World Series, the teenager was 2 for 15 with a triple, two walks and ten whiffs. He had 4 errors in 9 chances at short and had two outfield putouts. He won Bronze Medals in the 1977 European Championship, 1979 European Championship and 1983 European Championship as a player for Belgium. He later was Belgium's bench coach in the 2012 European Championship.
