Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Patrick Elkins was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 37th round of the 2010 amateur draft. He played in their minor league system from 2010 to 2012 and reached High-A in both 2011 & 2012. Overall Elkins hit .247/.365/.325 while appearing in 154 games. On the defensive side of the ball he moved around the diamond, but spent most games at third base or second base.
After retiring as a player, he became a scout for the Cardinals based in the Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC area. He worked as a 4th coach for one season with the 2014 Springfield Cardinals. After that he spent 5 years (2015-2019) as a major league professional scout. In December 2019 Elkins was promoted to a position called "Run Production Coach", and was made a full-fledged member of the coaching staff in 2021. He continued in this role through the 2024 season when his title was "Game Planning Coach".
