Biographical Information[edit]
Panagiotis Cheikalis has been an infielder for the Greek national team. He played baseball with Spartakos of Glyfada. He joined the Greek team for the 2003 European Championship, joining Ioannis Apostolopoulos as the only native Greeks on the team. He was 0 for 2 with a walk as a pinch-runner and pinch-hitter. He did not make Greek's team for the 2004 Olympics but returned for the 2005 European Championship, going 0 for 7 with a walk, hit-by-pitch, steal, run and RBI. Splitting 2B with Georgios Lempesis and backing up in the outfield and 3B, he had 7 chances error-free
In the 2008 European Championship Qualifiers, Cheikalis was 1 for 6 with three runs and three steals, starting at second base against Ireland. He tied Alexander Vasiliev for the event lead in steals and helped Greece win a spot in the 2010 European Championship. He is with Greece for the 2010 Euros.
