Biographical Information[edit]
Packy Dillon played for the St. Louis Red Stockings of the National Association in 1875, alongside his brother John Dillon. He enrolled at the University of Notre Dame in 1872, in a commercial course, but never graduated. Fellow St. Louis ballplayers Trick McSorley and Joe Blong were at the Univeristy at the same time. He seemed to have used the nickname Packy at all times, as it is found in his university registration records.
Dillon gave up baseball after 1875, working as a butcher, a produce seller, and later a farmer. He passed away on July 27, 1902, at just 49 years old from heart disease.
